About Michelle Filippi Michelle's passion began at a very young age watching her grandmothers cook. One with the sophisticated touch by being an ambassador's wife traveling to exotic places and the other one with the soul from a small town. "So I guess growing up there has always been a mix of cultures and creativity in my cooking style." After living in Italy for 3 years as a teenager and getting to visit most of europe due to her diplomatic family, she definitely got inspired & started cooking when she was in high school Cliffside Park, New Jersey. Her experience got enriched helping her aunt with her catering service doing weddings. "Then my dream of owning and being the chef of a restaurant became true in Cancun, Mexico 1999 to 2001, "ROMA DE NOCHE", small family environment but with lots of charm, with an italian menu and local mexican dishes as specials." Michelle has not stopped cooking in more than 25 years. Reading books, watching the food network, and of course preparing meals for family and friends from all over the world. In recent years, Michelle has been focusing on catering. After catering for the MIAMI SHORT FILM FESTIVAL in Nov. 2008, and volunteering for the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival, Michelle joined FLIFF staff on January 1, 2009. "I have been so lucky to be given the opportunity to express myself through the culinary arts and have enjoyed every minute cooking for all the events such as: Christopher Plummer Night, Super Bowl, Cafe Cinematheque, Sense of Cinema, Kentucky Derby and hopefully many more to come."
