The Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival and the FLOW Film Festival invite you to celebrate Women’s History Month with us! We will celebrate past, present, and future with a collection of South Florida’s most successful and dynamic female filmmakers of today’s industry. 

Following the films,  Kimberly Douglas, FLOW’s Director, will moderate a powerful panel discussion with leading filmmakers in our community, discussing their journeys as a whole while highlighting roadblocks and setbacks they all endured through each and every stage of the developmental process. Our elite filmmaking experts will reveal all of their true secrets to success in filmmaking for all members of the audience on March 26th, 2025. See you there!

Lost Treasure

Fadia and Brais are a couple so in love they are both dealing with their mental health issues. Fadia lives with depression and loses the battle to it leaving a message to Brais. Brais having to deal with his mental health issues starts to spiral living his everyday life with the memory of Fadia because accepting that she left is facing feeling guilty and responsible for not being able to help her enough. In this dilemma he only has two options, to take the truth that Fadia is no longer alive and try to live and hopefully overcome this situation, or follow her on the same path to meet up with her again in a different plan and reality.

Water is Our Medicine:

Kimberly Douglas has 20 years of experience in the entertainment industry, both in front of and behind the camera. An MDCC and UF Alum, she began her industry career in South Florida as an actress and model. Over the years she has starred in dozens of commercials, infomercials, and studio and independent films. In Los Angles she has guest-starred in over 30 network shows. She currently, owns The FLOW Film Festival, highlighting women in production. Her most recent endeavor is The FLOW Project, where she educates underserved youth about production and offers pathways to employment. Kimberly lives in Hollywood with her husband and 4 children.



Rachel Galvin has been a jurist for multiple festivals through the years in South Florida. She has helped to run the Super Geek Film Festival at Supercon and Spooky Empire’s Horror Film Festival. She also has been an actress and award-winning writer for over 20 years and has her own magazine about the film industry called Independent Streak Magazine. In addition, she has written a book about the industry called “Basics of the Biz.”

Sara Rogers is a beacon of creativity and experience in the South Florida film and stage industry, boasting over 40 years of versatile involvement. Her journey spans teaching, coaching, casting, writing, and talent coordination, making her a treasure trove of knowledge for aspiring and seasoned actors alike. She has crafted unique educational programs that bridge the gap between aspiring actors and the industry. “Step One-The Business End of the Acting Modeling Business” offers newcomers invaluable insights into navigating the industry with a business mindset. Meanwhile, “How To Audition For Camera” delves into advanced camera techniques, enriching actors’ on-screen presence and skills.


Tabatha Mudra is an award-winning director, cinematographer, and producer, who has been in the photography and film industry for over 2 decades. She founded one of the first LGBTQ+ community events that educated individuals on gender identity. She has won multiple awards and accolades in filmmaking and was a 10 under 40 filmmaker for PBS. She has worked with Grammy-Winning Musicians, Legendary TV-Hosts and several celebrity icons. Tabatha is most passionate about creating opportunities for women in the film industry.


Sharon Pfeiffer is a native New Yorker, currently living in Boca Raton, Florida. She left New York and successfully reinvented herself as, not just an actor, but as a filmmaker, producer, writer, and a standup comedian. Sharon has been acting since 2009, but it was her passion and tenacity to see her story come to life that she, along with co-writer Deni B. Sher (Sharon made her an offer she couldn’t refuse) decided to put pen to paper and they began writing From Brooklyn to Boca. They first wrote FBTB as a television series, which soon morphed into a feature film screenplay. Sharon had already produced an award-winning film called ‘Lost Treasure’ for The 48 Hour Film Project in 2023. She has worked on countless films, TV series and commercials, both behind and in front of the camera. 


Cathleen Dean is an Emmy award-winning American film director, producer, and photographer who creates innovative work inspired by her experiences in South Florida. Dean captivates audiences by bringing her characters to life. She approaches her work from an anthropological point of view, aiming to uncover historical truths that have been lost, forgotten or hidden with time. Dean is the founder of BlackCat Media LLC.


Laurel Levey was born and raised in Orange County, California. She is a first generation
American born to European parents. Since 2012, she has been a proud member and Board
Member of the prestigious Screen Actors Guild. Laurel is a world-wide award-winning
filmmaker, and a professional character actress who has quite the resume with dozens of
commercials and film credits to her name. She produced, co-wrote, and co-starred in “BOXED,”
a short film that won 21 awards from all over the world. Besides performing an array of
accents, Laurel is quite the polyglot, speaking English, Hebrew, Spanish and a smattering of
Farsi and Arabic. Laurel lived in Israel for over 12 years which adds to the layers of many
diverse characters she’s portrayed on film, TV, voice dubbing and countless commercials.
Laurel is a devoted animal advocate, loves nature, traveling and is a devout yoga practitioner.
She delights in playing her ukulele and has a vivacious passion for life. You can follow Laurels’
