A newly-out lesbian Filipino woman in her mid-20s, named Reyna, embarks on a journey to chase her dreams of becoming a successful DJ. Along the way, she dates different women via a lesbian dating app while facing various obstacles, from failed attempts at becoming a real estate agent to her aspirations as a web developer. Through determination, self-discovery, and the power of faith, Reyna learns to overcome adversity and finds her true calling and love.
DIRECTOR: Vanessa is a multi-faceted creative artist who has a background in film, music and design. After receiving a BFA in Motion Pictures from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, she produced numerous shorts and marketing videos. Renouncing Angelica (2009) and Habitual Aggression (2011) have gone through the film festival circuit, winning awards and showcasing at the Cannes Court Métrage. Taking a break from film she decided to exercise her passions in DJing and music producing under the moniker Mar1po5a. Growing up in the Silicon Valley, she was fascinated by technology and wanted to learn about coding and design which led to her career as a UX/UI designer. Her design job at Borrowlenses brought her back full circle into filmmaking with the realization of the LGBTQ+ focused stories she wants to tell and share with the world. The first short she directed, Bi-curious Sleepover (2019) won Best LGBT Short at the Play Short Int’l Film Awards and at the Asian Cinematography Awards. Vanessa’s directorial debut Echoes of Dreams based on true events from her life story.
