BAROLO BOYS

The film depicts the last thirty years of technical innovations and changes in the story of Barolo, a red wine produced from Nebbiolo grapes, almost unknown until the 1970s (apart from its land of origin, an area of 11 communes in the Langhe) and now considered one of the best red wines in the world. This is partly due to the work and innovations of the Barolo Boys, or Modernists, who introduced a series of technical innovations in the world of Italian wine. 

Director: Tiziano Gaia was born on March 31, 1975, in Turin, Italy. His family is originally from Castellinaldo d’Alba, a small village in the geographical area called Roero, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Piedmont, Italy, renowned for its wine production. He started his career as a writer and wine expert contributing for years to the Slow Food and Gambero Rosso guides. After working on the opening of Eataly in New York where he covered the role of Wine Cellar Chief, Tiziano returned to Italy to write his first musical “6 come noi” and start his career behind the camera.
