Smokers (Los Fumadores)

Los Fumadores (Smokers) is a drama about two Cuban exiles living in Miami—Rita and Gustavo—and their day-to-day lives. After tragedy occurs, Rita’s estranged son arrives to spend time with her and becomes obsessed over a family secret. He attempts to come to terms with this secret, while reconciling with his mother. This film explores themes of loss, grief and coming to terms with mortality.

Bio
Manuel Delgadillo was born and raised in Miami, FL, the son of Cuban and Colombian immigrants. His previous credits include his directorial debut Everything Has Led to This Moment, which premiered at the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival in 2024. He studied English Literature at FIU and currently works there as a writing consultant. His favorite films include Ugetsu, Persona, Killer of Sheep, and Brighter Summer Day.
